2025 Novembering Luncheon
The Widow Might Novembering Luncheon will be held on Saturday, November 1st, 2025 at noon at the Heritage Center in Brooklyn Center located at 6155 Earle Brown Dr. We will be in the Garden City Ballroom so please enter by door #5.
This event includes a plated lunch, a time to remember your husband, and hearing how “Happiness is a choice: finding Joy after loss” from our guest speaker Katie Stifter. Katie, the author of “The Funny Thing About Grief“, will share her grief story and dive into how faith, humor, and ever- seeking joy can lead to healing!
Katie is widow, mother, wife, high school counselor-sometimes funny- writer, grief educator, speaker, helping others heal with loss. Her husband passed away tragically in a freak paddle boarding accident in 2016. He was missing for 3 weeks and 4 days until he was eventually found by an ice fisherman- who dropped his underwater camera on her late husband’s boot. Her story was followed by all the Minnesota news stations and was a very public tragedy. This tragedy left Katie a 35-year-old pregnant widow with 2 other small children. Laughter and humor have always been powerful in her life, and she uses them in many ways to heal and live life after loss. Katie feels it is her mission to spread grief awareness. Katie has found that using humor helps break barriers and ease conversation regarding grief and loss. She has chosen happiness despite the pain and is trying to live “a life continued.” Happiness is a choice and it does take work and she wants others to know that they can choose happiness too!
To remember and honor our husbands, we ask you to bring a small framed picture and share a memory with others at your table. There will also be an optional time to light a candle in memory of your husband.
All Widow Might events are for women who are widows and may be accompanied by a non-widow female friend or relative.
